What to Bring

What to Bring to North Spring Behavioral Healthcare

  • Approximately 10 changes of casual clothing including socks, underwear (bras cannot have underwire, no thongs) and pajamas packed in an inexpensive sports or duffel bag.
  • All clothing should fit loosely. Do not bring clothing that is tight fitting or too small.
  • Be sure to pack warm clothing for winter weather as appropriate (a winter coat, hat and gloves).
  • In the summer, please bring a modest swimsuit (female patients: one-piece suits only, no bikinis) and a T-shirt for cover-up.
  • Bring two to three pairs of sneakers (shoelaces are not permitted in our acute inpatient hospitalization program), and shower shoes or flip-flops.

All clothing and other items should be marked with the patient’s name on the tag.

  • Patients are welcome to bring one doll or stuffed animal, and non-electronic toys (please limit the amount you bring).
  • Patients may bring personal toiletries in non-glass containers for brand preference; however, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, laundry soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion and deodorant are provided.
  • Posters and family photos (no frames or picture hanging hardware).
  • Appropriate personal books, activity books, coloring books, reading books, magazines (books and magazines cannot be bound with staples) and crayons or other writing utensils.

We do not allow patients to bring the following:

  • iPods, MP3 players or stereos
  • Body spray or personal toiletry items that contain alcohol
  • Jewelry or makeup are not allowed at admission, but may be permitted later in treatment
  • Frames or picture hanging hardware
  • Books and magazines with staples
